UK church trustee calls Judaism 'demonic,' Islam 'demonic false religion' in sermons
The National Secular Society reported Emmanuel Free Church of England in Morecambe, England, to the Charity Commission after trustee Rev. Brett Murphy made a series of inflammatory statements in recorded sermons and interviews. In an August 2 sermon, Murphy said modern Judaism contains "demonic cults" practicing "black magic" and called Judaism a "false antichrist religion," citing U.S. pastor Doug Wilson's remark that "when the Jews are bad, they're very, very bad." Murphy also referenced the Epstein files and George Soros as evidence of Jews "doing very evil things," calling such people "servants of Satan." In a separate July video on the Project Britannia YouTube channel, Murphy called Islam a "demonic false religion from the pits of unholy hell," used a slur to describe converts to Islam, and said "feminism is cancer." He identified as a "Christian nationalist" and said he would vote for Rupert Lowe's Restore party. The church is registered as a charity under 'advancement of religion' and is set to host a 'Make Great Britain Christian Again' conference this month. The Charity Commission has not yet issued findings.

Biblical Christianity does teach that salvation is through Christ alone and that other religious systems are in error — but Scripture calls believers to refute false teaching with truth and meekness, not slurs, conspiracy theories about ethnic groups, or contempt for the disabled or women. What Murphy is reported to have said is not biblical apologetics; it is bigotry using Christian language. When a registered charity bearing a Christian identity broadcasts this kind of rhetoric, it damages the public witness of genuine biblical Christianity and gives outside observers grounds to conflate historic Christian truth claims with hatred. Christians should be able to distinguish clear biblical conviction about the exclusivity of Christ from language that dehumanizes people made in God's image.
